AT THE CAPITOL
LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES
Action on our bills generally starts in the Joint House and Senate Committee on the Environment, or sometimes the Judiciary. They, hold public hearings and vote on whether to move bills forward. If your lawmakers sit on these committees, make sure they know that animals are important to you.
BECOME AN ADVOCATE
Your voice matters! We encourage you to Speak Up For Animals by reaching out to your legislators, sending in written testimony, testifying at a public hearing, and more! Find the resources you need to be an effective advocate at the Capitol. Begin by signing up to receive our Action Alerts!
Connecticut's Very Important Animals
Every two years, CVA sponsors a photo exhibit called "Connecticut's Very Important Animals" which features legislators and their animals. This photo exhibit is displayed in the concourse connecting the Legislative Office Building and the Capitol Building. These photos are from 2019. The exhibit is on hiatus this year because of Covid, but we hope to be back with more "Very Important Animals" next year.
